MidwestJS

MidwestJS is one of the premier JavaScript conferences in the midwest. Jeff Barczewski is delivering a workshop and two talks at the conference this August 16-18th, 2017 in Minneapolis, MN. Resources for these events follow.

Advanced React workshop

In this hands-on workshop, you’ll get a chance to go deeper. We’ll explore techniques for using React in a more functional style and the advantages that brings with it. Learn additional ways to work with immutable data. We’ll orchestrate async I/O using redux middleware, redux-logic, async/await. We’ll discuss how RxJS Observables work and how to use them in your apps. Finally, we’ll learn how to make our apps fully reactive, working with Web Sockets. This is your opportunity to level up!

Taming space and time with RxJS Observables

In this modern highly asynchronous developer world, you may have heard about RxJS Observables, but do you really understand them and how they might be used? In this session, Jeff will explain Observables in simple terms with plenty of examples and you will emerge ready to start using them in your apps.

Resilient React.js - building apps with a functional approach

As our apps grow in complexity and power, how do we architect things to maintain our sanity? One solution is to apply a more functional approach to building our apps. In this session you will learn how to use React.js with a functional style and what advantages that brings with it.
